As Cycle News put it: Fossils in the desert
Sun - sand - success were the 3 words of the day.
A beautiful track and lots of fun in the sun.
Brads return to National competition was victorious with wins in both motos of the 40 plus expert class.

In conjunction with Daytona Bike Week the motocross at Hardrock was one of many most excellent events during Speed Week. Bad Brad again put together two moto wins in the 40 plus expert class. |

At most Southern California moto cross races usually some old fast guys show up and thats exactly what Rich Eirstadt did.
Bad Brad suffered his first defeat in moto one, but came back to win the second moto and the overall for 3 in a row.

Over the past weekend Team CZECHERD PAST had their way on the beautiful natural terrain Moto Cross track designed by Dick Mann in the hills surrounding Sears Point at the AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days West in Sonoma California.
A special thanks goes out to Mike Tillman for his flawlessly prepared C-Z 400 which allowed Brad to take the overall win with 1-1 Motos in +40 Expert ahead of my old friend and former factory rider, Billy Grossi.
Other team members performed well with wins in their classes. Next vintage stop will be Mid-Ohio July 9.
P.S. Marty, thanks for the best B.B.Q.

I attended AMA Vintage Days in Ohio.
I and Ed Flanagan were winners for Team Czecherd Past in our respective classes.
|
|
Next stop for Team Czeckerd Past was Dick Manns N.W. Regional MX and swap meet in Carson City NV. We were able to raise a little money for his recovery fund by selling his Legends Tee shirt at the swap meet and the MX on Sunday. That Tee is also available in the Badco store. All the Team members won their respective Class but the Ol champ.
Brad finished 2nd overall with 4-1 finishes. Brad tried a 250 for moto1 -- but he is a "horse power guy".

Team Czeckerd Past made the long but scenic haul to Colorado Springs for the AHRMA National. We found a nice, very well prepared Lommy fast race track.
Team members Pete Silva finished 2nd in the 50+ novice while Ed Flanagin Jr. won both the 125 & 500 Expert classes. Bad Brad kept his win streak alive with 1-1 motos for his 6th straight National win.
|
|
Team Czeckerd Past traveled South to the old, but Traditional MX track of Carlsbad California -- this is the only track I know of with the word "bad" in it. Flying Ed Flanagin is the new CZ world champ in the 125 Expert Class after 1-2 moto finishes. Congratulations, Ed!
Bad Brad didnt have as good as luck -- he threw a chain while leading the first moto for a DNF and won the second moto. All in all a fun day at Carlsbad, needed to see more Czech iron there. |

On to the "Farm" in Chehalis, Washington for round 12 of the Speed & Sport National Vintage Motocross Series.
|
|
We traveled to Alabama for the 1st annual Running Brand G.P. in Centre Alabama and it was the bomb!
The race was held on a cattle ranch (all pies removed, thank you). All natural grass track with bitchen off-cambers & good elevation changes. All pre-entries got beautiful racing bibs with their number on the back and American flag on the front.
Over 3 minute lap times. Track layout by the famous Barry Higgins. The trophies were the best Ive seen this year with a winners podium better than NASCAR. All you 1st time event 200 entries pre-enter for this one next year--early.
Saturday I had a M.X. school with approximately 25 entries and rode 40+ expert on Sunday on a good looking 400 CZ, compliments of John Garland the promoter. I had a good day with 2 moto wins.
Special thanks to John & Ed Garland
Great Job Guys!

The last AHRMA National will be held in Hollister California.
Right after Hollister, my sponsor Mike Tillman & I will be traveling to Europe to the CZ Masters Race in Stralconice, the town where the C-Zs are born. Ill be racing with Falta and the boys. Will report when we get back.

Here is our report from round #1 AHRMA National Moto Cross & Trials Series by A.M.S. Racing February 3 & 4 2001 at Speedworld Motoplex in Arizona.
With the first AHRMA National under my belt I realized many things change and many things remain the same. Some of the classes had new fast faces while others like the Premier 500 Expert - a classic 500 Expert - had the past champs at the head of the class, as usual.
In my class - 40 plus Expert - a few of the top riders had machine problems (Maico-brake-o). But Mr. Grossi had no problems winning the first moto on his Team Texas 400 Husky. He looked good, too. I had a good view of his back side. I was second.
The second moto was the other way around and Billy got to check out my new Dunlop 756 rear the Whole race. With the second moto win I took the overall with Billy a close 2nd |
|
This last week team Czechard Past traveled East to Florida for the second round of the AHRMA Vintage National Series.
The track at Reddick and the weather in Florida were just great and the pits were even better. Almost like a golf course. After a little bad luck in practice I moved on to the 3rd CZ I could find and that one was a charm. Thanks to John Garmon and Diamond Don for all the help with the bikes over the weekend. Like the nerd I am I stalled off the line in moto 1 and had to charge hard for a few laps to take the lead and the first moto win. Moto 2 was more to my liking but less exciting for everybody else. A good start and a win!
Monday after the National we headed up the road to Gainesville for the Autism Awareness Charity race at world famous Gatorback park and boy do Jerry West
and Ed Garlan know how to put one on! BBQ dinner for everybody at the track the night before, classic MX videos to watch while having something cool to drink and the track was perfect for vintage! Not just a flat road to ride around on.With the best finish line jump to date...by far, this was a fun track! Unfortunately, my borrowed CZ did all she could do Saturday before and lost an ignition seal before the first start so I had to pull off in both heats so that I didn't fry it! We'll keep the 'ol girl around for Tyler Texas and maybe Oklahoma in April.
See ya at Sears Point April 27-29th!
Peace, Brad Lackey
